RELEASE DAY: APRIL 24 2025!

hi folks! Back in 2017 I released a compilation album from various artists titled "...We Care Because You Should", full of remixes & covers from Aphex Twin's 1995 album "...I Care Because You Do".

Well, now it's been 30 years since the og album released, so I've contacted various artists & compiled about 4 hours of material, really solid remixes & covers & reinterpretations of Aphex Twin's work. This has been a big passion project for me, and I hope folks enjoy it!

I'll be premiering the album on Youtube with a listening party, and then releasing it on bandcamp as well as here :)

GREYSTAR - WRATH (2025, EP, Reactionary Records)

Hi folks, I'm Greystar. I just put out a new project full of tracks I've played live over the last 2 years. Debuted at raves, in the woods, in abandoned concrete structures. That seems to me the best setting to hear this music.

I don't really conform much to genres, but it most closely fits the label Industrial Techno, although I also like the idea of "Punk IDM", as I've always been within the IDM/Braindance circles and I like the idea of expanding that genre term.

This EP was originally planned to release later, but I felt like now was the right time, given recent events politically in the USA and the world. I'm upset, and I want to say something with my music - more than just existing facelessly behind cheery IDM. I wanted to make something aggressive, rebellious, protesting, and openly trans. If you are unaware of trans issues or trans people in general, I encourage you to research on your own time and support those around you who are affected by the laws & executive orders being put into action in the USA right now -- as well as other countries, wherever you may be, reader.

I was limited to 21 minutes for the Mini 3" CD release, but I have an additional 2-4 tracks that I'd like to include on this project later once they're finished.

Hey yall, still new to Newgrounds but figured I'd share a project I put out recently.

I've been a big fan of Aphex Twin for years and over the last few years I've worked on putting together a giant tribute album to his classic debut album, Selected Ambient Works 85-92. Out on bandcamp, although I shared my track here on Newgrounds.

This compilation remixes / covers every track from the original album, creating a new continuous mix album for the first CD. The second CD expands upon the project with even more covers of material from that era of Aphex Twin's music.

It features a bunch of artists! 33 tracks, or 60 if you include the bonus tracks! So uh yea, enjoy if that sounds like your thing!

EDIT: oh yea also I'd love to put this whole compilation up on Newgrounds if I can, but I'm not sure the best way to? It features a bunch of different artists, so would each of the artists need to make their own Newgrounds accounts and upload their tracks? Idk if anyone has advice for how to upload various artist compilation albums to Newgrounds let me know!

hey to whoever reads this,

New to newgrounds, maybe a weird time to join. There's a few reasons why that is.

I've always thought it was a cool site and I figured I'd try uploading my music here.

I also realized something in regards to being a musician on the internet. Of course I hear my own music but for others to hear it, it has to be accessible. This may be obvious but I realized that for the longest time I'd been shooting myself in the foot for only posting it on soundcloud. I hold such a high standard to what I want to have released into the world when in all actualities very few people will ever actually hear my work. So I've tried to start changing that, and make my stuff more available on different platforms so that more people may find it. So that's another reason I joined Newgrounds.

And uh the final reason is become I heard that this is an easy way to get my music accessible to people playing geometry dash I dream of someday seeing a geometry dash level made to my music. I think that'd be cool.

Anyways, I'm Greystar. I just put out an album called Playgrounds: Recess yesterday n I gotta tell everybody about it!! cus if I don't do it now then the energy I have will die down and I'll just be onto the next project.
